Altitude™ Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How difficult is it to operate?

A. Adjustments have never been simpler than with the large, easy-to-read LCD flow indicator. Flat and easy to wipe clean, it has no buttons or knobs that can get knocked off or damaged. The result? Nuisance and unscheduled service calls have never been fewer.

Q. What maintenance do I need to perform?

A. Altitude Generator maintenance is very minimal. Routine maintenance consists of cleaning the air inlet filter at regular intervals to keep the unit functioning for years. The user can easily achieve this maintenance. When other than routine maintenance is
needed, contact your Altitude™ dealer/provider or authorized service representative.

Q. What are the power requirements?

A. The system comes with a cord that plugs into any standard outlet without any problem, and requires a power source of 115V, 60 Hz, 470 watts. Please ensure that you don't use an outlet with a switch and make sure that the circuit is not overloaded. Avoid plugging any other device into the same outlet where you've plugged in your Altitude Generator .

Q. Where can I set up my Altitude Generator ?

A. Select a location in a well ventilated space that avoids fumes and pollutants
and allows the oxygen concentrator to draw in room air through the intake filter on the top of the cabinet without being restricted. Make sure the oxygen concentrator is at least three to six (3 - 6) inches (7.6 – 15.2 cm) away from walls, furniture and especially curtains or draperies that can impede or block adequate airflow to the oxygen concentrator. Do Not cover unit with a blanket, towel, quilt, etc. Do Not place objects under unit. Maintain at least ½ inch clearance under unit. Keep the oxygen concentrator at least five (5) feet (1.5 m) away from hot, sparking objects or open sources of flame. Do Not locate the unit near any heat source or heat register.

Q. How should I use my Altitude Generator to get the most training benefits?

A. Although the Altitude Generator can definitely be used to simulate occasional training sessions at altitude, much greater performance increases have been produced using the "live high, train low" theory of altitude training. This means you train without the machine, but sleep with it, read with it on, and surf the internet using Altitude™ air. In other words, you will get the greatest benefit by doing your altitude training while at rest.

Q. Are Altitude Generators™ legal to use in my sport?

A. Yes. In 2006, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided not to ban hypoxic training systems due to the fact that they have not been shown to be harmful to human health, and a ban would be difficult to enforce. According WADA, the main reason for considering such a ban in the first place was the fact that such systems have produced too many results with little or no effort put forth by the athletes using them, and it is highly unlikely that a ban will again be considered unless some evidence is put forth to suggest that the systems may be harmful to the health of the athlete.

Q. Why don't you sell a tent-based system?

A. Unfortunately, all tent-based altitude simulation systems are covered by a patent owned by one of our competitors. If you would like to build your own enclosure for your Altitude Generator by placing the machine outside of a sealed tent, or room and pumping air into the enclosure through the hose, you may save a lot of money, but don't sell it to anyone or use it in any commercial venture for risk of a law suit. Also, we are not responsible for the effectiveness or safety of any such enclosure since we can not sell them or provide any training or instruction on their use, nor are we attempting to encourage anyone to build such a basic, easy-to-manufacture, air-tight enclosure.

Q. Can I try it out before I buy it? Does the system come with a warranty?

A. Altitude™ is based out of Phoenix, Arizona, and we invite you to test out an Altitude Generator at any Coyotes Athletic Center™ in the Phoenix-metropolitan area. We back our products with a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty.
